Communicate Technology PLC expands team with new apprentice

Specialist IT, telecoms and cyber security company Communicate PLC have expanded their Kent office team with an apprentice, Joshua Sullivan, as well as a placement year student from Northumbria University, Aidan Holmes. Communicate recognise the importance of providing work experience first-hand and value apprenticeship and university schemes that make this possible.

Working with Apprenticeship provider ProfileDT, Joshua aged 16 began his role in September as an Apprentice IT Support Engineer.

Mark Styles, network infrastructure manager at Discovery Park, Kent explains the importance of nurturing your own talent. “Growing our own talent is how we like to do things at Communicate. To be able to take someone on that has no preconceptions or bad habits means that we can mould them into the Communicate way.

“Apprenticeships are a great way of developing your people. Having someone join the team that you can train on the job whilst completing their academic studies and qualifications is invaluable, especially in our industry.”

Since joining the team, Joshua has helped clients across the site at Discovery Park. He said: “I chose Communicate because I am an enthusiastic person that is keen to develop my IT knowledge and I believe Communicate is the perfect company to allow me to do this. So far, I’ve enjoyed meeting the team and learning the fundamentals of providing IT services to multiple customers.”

Having locations across the UK, Northumbria University student Aidan Holmes, is experiencing Communicate’s multiple sites first-hand during his placement year, whilst he studies Information Technology Management for Business. Aidan joined the team to gain knowledge of the industry and apply his first two years at university to a real working environment.

“During my time at university I haven’t studied cyber security and I was relatively new to the networking and cyber sector, first working at Communicate’s Leeds office and now with their Kent team, I was able to dive into how they both connect and understand as much as possible.”
