Kent-Based Technology Firm Thrives Remotely And Reduces Property Overheads

Kent-based technology firm, APC Technology Group, has successfully transitioned to a remote working structure allowing it to reduce its property overheads, with support from business communications provider, Fusion Communications

The business, which specialises in the design, specification and distribution of electronic components and systems, lighting technologies and connectivity products, needed a system to support all workers to perform their jobs remotely when the pandemic hit in March 2020.

Having already partnered with Fusion Communications in 2017 for its business mobile needs, APC Technology Group sought help from the supplier in further optimising its remote working capabilities.

Fusion recommended that APC Technology Group moved across to its ‘Horizon’ system, which supported employees to stay in contact with one another no matter their locations and to continue making calls despite the disruption of the pandemic.

The team also took advantage of the Horizon Collaborate solution, which equipped employees to handle a constant flow of queries across multiple channels, resulting in improved productivity and increased collaborative teamwork.

Matt Newall, compliance & support services manager at APC Technology Group, said: “When the pandemic hit, 50% of our workforce were already doing their roles remotely, but we needed support to seamlessly shift the rest of our workers to a work from home model almost overnight.

“Having already worked with Fusion Communications in the past, we knew they would be the ideal partner to help us get set up. The transition went very smoothly, and the Fusion team were there every step of the way to get everything synced and set up with minimal disruption.

“We are a small company with specific needs and tight budget and Fusion was able to provide the ideal system to fit our requirements. The Horizon system has been instrumental in allowing our employees to quickly get to grips with working remotely and, as a result, we’ve been able to save huge costs on overheads by closing down all five of our offices.”

Oliver Rowe, founder and CEO of Fusion Communications, said: “Covid-19 has made remote working standard for many businesses but, for it to be a success, having robust and reliable connectivity and communications solutions in place is essential.

“Having worked with APC Technology Group for a number of years, we understood the business’ requirements for moving all employees to a remote working model and were able to help them ensure business continuity throughout the pandemic.

“Remote and hybrid working are here to stay, and APC Technology Group’s decision to adopt remote working long term and close its offices is proof that, with the right technologies, teams can stay productive wherever they are.”

Established in 2013, Fusion Communications manages the communications for 250 small to medium businesses including Birmingham Royal Ballet and Shackletons.

The business offers a variety of communications solutions, including business mobiles, hosted and unified communications, fixed line and secure device management.
