DSH, the Maidstone-based Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors, has been recognised for its commitment to providing local students with work experience.
The company has been commended by Education Business Partnership Kent, which works to build links between schools and the business community, for its work experience programme.
“The EBP Award is an endorsement of our efforts to ensure our work experience placements give students a real insight into the world of business, accountancy and finance,” said Hannah-Jane Tripp, HR Manager at DSH.
“Anyone who comes to us on a work placement can expect to be involved in accounts preparation, tax returns, payroll, and, depending on the time of year, an audit or stock take, all under the supervision of an experienced mentor.”
DSH uses a student toolkit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales to ensure students are introduced to the basic principles of accountancy during their placement.
“Our aim is to ensure students leave us with a real feel for whether accountancy is the profession for them or not, and the EBP Award reflects that commitment,” said Hannah-Jane.
