ACCOUNTANTS RALLY FOR CHILDRENS CHARITY

CCW-M2M-rallyIt will be a case of ‘Monte Carlo or bust’ for two Kent accountants when they take to the roads in a budget banger to raise money for a children’s charity.

Simon Warne and Geert Struyven of national audit, tax and advisory firm Crowe Clark Whitehill are taking part in the Parenta Trust’s Maidstone to Monaco annual banger rally next month.

Corporate Finance Partner Geert Struyven said: “We are particularly keen to support the Parenta Trust, which is hoping to raise enough money to build a pre-school in Uganda for orphans and underprivileged children, as 93p in every £1 raised goes directly to the cause.

“Our first task is to find a banger – a car worth just £350 that is still roadworthy – that will make the four day journey through Kent, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and on to Monaco. Ideally, we would like to donate the £350 straight to the charity so are hoping we can find a willing volunteer, perhaps a local garage, to donate a vehicle that will get us there.”

Leaving on Wednesday 25 June, Geert and Tax Partner Simon Warne will set off from Maidstone as part of a convoy, taking in challenges along the way. Day one will see the cars reach Germany where they will make their first overnight stop at a campsite.

Each team must commit to raising a mimimum of £1,000 for the Parenta Trust.

Geert added: “We would be happy to consider any suggestions that will raise more money for the charity. Customising the cars is encouraged so perhaps you would like your company logo to be seen in Europe? We are planning to update supporters daily via a blog and there is also a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/maidstonetomonaco, so you can make sure we complete the challenge!”
