GIACOMOKent Science Park-based land remediation experts Ecologia have been selected to undertake soil-heating trials in Belgium. This new contract comes hot on the heels of the firm successfully securing a contract in January to supply state-of-the-art equipment to a petrochemicals facility in Northern Italy.

Ecologia are working in partnership with Belgian remediation company Envisan to undertake trials of Ecologia’s In situ Radio Frequency Soil Heating (ISRFH) technology at a site near Brussels. The project was awarded to the Kent firm following a rigorous assessment of a number of innovative soil heating technologies.

The contract will involve treating hydrocarbon contamination trapped within impermeable soil strata, with the long-term view of collecting the site specification parameters for the design of a full-scale remediation system.

This new project highlights Ecologia’s successful international expansion. Dr. Giacomo Maini, Managing Director of Ecologia commented on this new win:

“Thanks to the hard work of our entire team we’ve already got 2013 off to a flying start, with this contract and the project in Northern Italy. This latest win marks our continued growth internationally; but rather than resting on our laurels, I fully intend for us to capitalise on this success and make 2013 our most successful year yet!”

James Speck, Site Director of the Kent Science Park also spoke about the news:

“Ecologia is one of Kent Science Park’s biggest success stories. Over the last ten years we have supported Giacomo and his team as they have grown their company from a small start up into a thriving SME. It’s outstanding to see them continuing this growth, by securing their second international contract so far this year. As Kent continues to focus on exporting goods and services to Europe as a means to boost the economy, Kent Science Park tenants are constantly forging strong links with the international business community.”
