EXPANSION SUCCESS FOR DISCOVERY PARK TENANTS

discovery-parkDiscovery Park has proved to be just what the doctor ordered for two start-up companies which have reaped the benefits of being a part of Europe’s leading science and technology hub.

KB Occupational Health Services, set up by Kim Boggins, has been providing occupational health services and workplace support, including health and safety advice and training, for more than 17 years. Its success has moved to another level since moving onto the site.

To meet growing demand for its services, the company has expanded its team and opened an on-site consulting clinic offering health checks and medicals. A new Audiometry booth for hearing surveillance has also been installed, which extends their services even further.

Stephen Boggins, the company’s director, said: “We are growing and part of that is due to the relocation to Discovery Park where we are able to link with other professional companies”.

It has been a similar success story for digital and branding agency Angle Studios since joining Discovery Park; growing from a single member of staff to a team of nine in less than a year.

Before joining the UK’s best Enterprise Zone the company was run from a home office, with nine digital and marketing staff working remotely. It has since outgrown its first office at Discovery Park, relocating to a much larger space on-site.

Ryan Grist, managing director at Angle, is excited to see the growth continue for both Angle and Discovery Park in the coming years.

He said: “It is amazing how quickly the company has grown since moving here.  We now work with many of the tenants on site as well as using their services when we need to. There’s a real sense of community.

“As a business community, Discovery Park is a great place to be. The experience since we’ve been on site has been fantastic. There’s no way I would move from here now.”

“We are also keen to continue taking on apprentices to give young people in the local area a start. We currently have two apprentices but plan to take at least one per year.

“Coming from an apprenticeship background myself, I went on to work for a global agency working on some huge brands before setting up Angle, so I would like to offer the same opportunities that I received.”

Anna Stone, leasing director at Discovery Park, said: “It’s great that our tenants are expanding on site and enjoying great success. With so many diverse and innovative companies in one place, Discovery Park really is the place to grow your business.”
