HART, Checkmate’s dedicated height safety and rescue training division, has recently opened ‘The Tor’, a giant training tower facility, at its site in Sheerness, Kent.
One of the tallest training towers in Europe this brand new and high tech Working at Height training facility can simulate realistic evacuations from wind turbines, tower cranes and telecoms.
The new tower means that HART will be able to provide both existing and new clients with a much wider range of courses, particularly high level rescue training.
Approved by RenewableUK, GWO and Siemens for the delivery of Working at Height training, this is the only accredited tower of its type in the South of England.
Further exciting additions to HART’s training division include 35 metres of indoor confined space tunnels which will deliver City and Guilds accredited courses, three new 10-metre telecom and electrical poles for pole top rescue as well as a fire training area.
Andy Stock, Training Director, HART, said: “We are delighted with the new centre. It is testament to our entire team’s dedication and vision to be professional providers of Working at Height training. The new facility has already been very well received when used by a technician from Dong and London Array, and we hope the rest of our customers will think the same.”
Oliver Auston, Managing Director, Checkmate Lifting and Safety, said:
“The new HART training centre has required some heavy investment, creative thinking and vision, especially to deliver it within such a short time frame. I am confident we have a team of dedicated professionals delivering mentally and physically challenging courses. We wanted to put ourselves on the map as a centre of excellence, so we knew The Tor had to be very capable and unique. With the recent expansion of the Renewables sector, it will be great news for Kent and the South East as more jobs will continue to be created which will drive further growth in the local economy.”
