Folkestone-based Gut Health food company has won a prestigious award for its Troo Spoonful of Fibre Inulin Syrup and for its Troo Granola products.
The team behind TrooFoods Ltd were announced as winners at the 2019 Nourish Awards which celebrates and honours the best new generation health foods in the UK. TrooFoods were one of the biggest winners on the night, scooping 4 awards in total.
“We are proud and delighted to have won this award. It’s been the culmination of a lot of hard work to create healthy and sustainable food products which are nutritious and tasty. It’s humbling to be in the company of the other nominees and getting to know more about their products too,” said Helenor Rogers, one half of the married couple who founded the company.
The winners and runners up were judged by qualified and practising nutritionists and leaders in the food, drink and business sectors.
Troo Spoonful of Fibrewas selected by the judges as the Most Innovative Product for being so unique. It is a liquid fibre syrup made from 100% chicory root fibre, also known as inulin. The judges loved the high fibre content (65%) and low GI. In short they said “We loved this” with many of the judges on the night commenting on the delicious taste. Troo Spoonful of Fibre can be found in Holland & Barrett stores nationwide with the rest of the Troo range in Sainsburys, Ocado and Milk & More.
Diana Murphy, founder of the Nourish Awards, said:
“This year’s awards attracted the highest level of entries and the judges had a difficult job choosing the runners up and winners. All of the companies in the room are paving the way to offering better, healthy eating choices. We should celebrate with great pride those who are putting their stamp on the healthy food industry.”
The Rogers family started their business from their kitchen in the Bayle less than 4 years ago, when Helenor began making and selling granola online. As the brand gained traction they redefined the purpose to be all about helping people live longer, happier and healthier lives through better gut health. Mike Rogers explains “More and more research is coming to the fore showing how the makeup of the bacteria in our gut have a massive impact on our overall health and wellbeing – including mental health. All our products help nourish our good gut bacteria with fibre as well as tasting blooming delicious!”.
