BUSINESS BACKS BLACKTHORN TRUST

blackthorn-trustTwo weeks after putting out the call for help from local businesses, the Maidstone-based Blackthorn Trust has received support from firms eager to help the charity raise £75,000 to fund the construction of a new therapy building.

After the 36 Engineers Regiment removed the old building, plans for the new facility were draw up for free by Maidstone-based GDM Architects.

Gallagher Group also stepped up and a team from the local construction company has laid the concrete foundations for the new building at no cost.

Claygate, the distributor of bathroom and plumbing supplies based in Marden, has also agreed to provide the sanitaryware for the new building.

The contributions of local businesses will build upon the £35,000 being jointly provided by Maidstone Borough Council and Cobtree Foundation towards the appeal.

Jan Prior, Blackthorn Trust’s Chief Executive said: “The response from local firms has been immense. It will make a huge difference to our work with people suffering from chronic long-term conditions, such as pain, depression or mental illness, as well as ex-servicemen with post traumatic stress disorder.

“Our shopping list still includes plastering, decorating and fitting out as well as office furniture and flooring, but we are now well on our way to reaching our goal.”

Local firms interested in backing the Blackthorn Trust fundraising campaign should contact Emma Halpin on 01622 7222219 or emma@blackthorn.org.uk
