Video showcases The Mall Maidstone’s £6m make-over

The Mall Maidstone has entered the digital age with a new time lapse video to showcase its £6m make-over.

The refurbishment of The Mall, which opened at the Stoneborough Centre in November 1976, started in May of this year and has now been completed giving customers a brighter more modern shopping experience.

To celebrate the £6m revamp, which also coincided with The Mall’s 40th Birthday, a time lapse video has been launched to show the differences made to The Mall Maidstone.

The refurbishment, which was managed by Surrey developer Stanton and mainly carried out overnight, has given the Mall intelligent strip lighting which adjusts to the weather, white porcelain flooring, heightened shop fronts and exposed the ceiling beams adding light and a refreshed ambiance to the centre. Other works have included new glass entrances at both King Street and Gabriel’s Hill with removal of both canopies with the ceiling lifted at Gabriel’s Hill, extended entrance and a window added into the Golden Boot.

This year has also seen the return of discount store TJ Hughes as well as welcoming Flutterbyes, The Works and Cake Box.

Centre Manager Andy Davy has said: “This video really captures how much The Mall Maidstone has changed after the refurbishment works. It has completely changed the feel of the centre, it is a cleaner, brighter space to spend time in; the toilets, baby change facilities and lifts are contemporary and welcoming for shoppers and we are really pleased to have TJ Hughes back in the centre with the addition of new shops to attract shoppers.”
