We are delighted to confirm that Penshurst Place plans to redevelop the Plant Centre area next to their main visitor entrance and Gift Shop, into a new catering outlet.
The new catering outlet (yet to be officially named) will be located outside the main house and grounds ticketed area and also accessible via the Gift Shop which is also open all year.
The architectural consultants are local firm Madgwick and Dottridge with offices in nearby Royal Tunbridge Wells and tenders are being sought for the building work. It is expected the caterer Leith’s at Penshurst Place, who already successfully manage Penshurst Place’s Garden restaurant, will also manage the new catering facility.
General Manager of Penshurst Place Estate, Ben Thomas says
“We are delighted to get this project off the ground to build a new catering outlet at Penshurst Place. After several years of getting customer feedback about the need for a place serving refreshments that is open all year, and outside the ticketed area, we will now be able to service our local community and customers more effectively and manage the high demand for our good quality catering, that we have encountered at peak times over the past few seasons at Penshurst Place.”
The plans are for the new outlet to be open 12 months a year and offers a place to get good quality light refreshments for Travel Trade/Group visitors, visitors to the Gift Shop, season ticket holders visiting the adventure playground and events, and passing walkers and cyclists who use the local footpaths and regional cycle route no 12.
Penshurst Place look to start building work in early 2013. Access to the Gift Shop and visitor entrance will not be affected.
