KENT housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has been awarded an impressive four Building for Life Awards for new homes developments across the county. Two of the developments were presented with the top ‘outstanding’ rating, for this prestigious industry recognised quality mark, which demonstrates the excellent design of new homes, neighbourhoods and communities.
Building for Life 12 (BFL12) is the latest industry standard for the design of new housing developments in the UK and measures new schemes against 12 specific criteria. Endorsed by Design Council CABE, the principles of the assessment ensure that housing should be attractive, functional and sustainable. The assessment that saw two of the Kent housing developments achieve the highest possible score confirms that the overall design of the developments exceed the aims of the new National Planning Policy Framework and responds to the Government’s commitment to build high quality schemes with the involvement of local communities throughout planning.
The recent awards come just weeks after Barratt Homes was also awarded an industry leading 5-star rating in the new HBF (Home Builders Federation) customer satisfaction survey 2017, cementing its place as a 5-star housebuilder.

The two ‘outstanding’ rated developments are Aylesham Village in Aylesham (Barratt Homes) and Chestnut Grange in Ashford (David Wilson Homes). Saxon Place in Harrietsham and Castle Hill in Ebbsfleet also received the Building for Life quality mark.
