Kent businesses eager to unlock trade opportunities in Holland should head to Manston Airport for a high-level international trade seminar this month.
The ‘Doing Business in the Netherlands’ seminar, being held at the airport near Ramsgate on Thursday 24 October, is being organised by UK Trade & Investment and Air France KLM, in cooperation with Kent International Business and the 2 Seas Trade Project.
The event follows the launch of KLM’s twice daily flights from Manston Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol. Its aim is to demonstrate through real life trade successes how other Kent firms can make the most of the business opportunities on offer in the Netherlands.
Charles Buchanan, Chief Executive of Manston Airport, and a guest speaker at the seminar, said: “The Netherland’s close geographical location to the UK, which is less than an hour’s flight time away, along with its growing market and low barrier to entry, should make it a prime target for Kent’s small to medium sized businesses.
“Connecting Kent to Schiphol, the fourth largest air hub in the world, allows local businesses access to not only target the Dutch market, but also reach over 190 destinations worldwide via KLM.”
Lewis Scott, Regional Director for UKTI South East, commented: “The Dutch market is one of the most open and internationally-orientated in the world. English is widely spoken and opportunities for trade are plentiful in all sectors. This makes the Netherlands an ideal environment for UK businesses wanting to expand their operations overseas.
“Given how easy it is to access the Netherlands from Manston Airport, I urge South East businesses to attend this event so that they can learn more about what the Dutch market can offer.
“‘Going Dutch’ could be your first step on the way to international export success, and this event provides an ideal starting point.”
Michiel Veldhuizen, Head of UK Trade & Investment the Netherlands, will focus on the trade opportunities on offer to Kent companies. He will be joined by Warner Rootliep, Managing Director of Air France KLM for UK & Northern Ireland.
Companies interested in attending can register free online before 14 October 2013 by visiting http://netherlands.ukti.gov.uk/registration-doing-business-in-the-netherlands
