Epple Bay Ceramics
– the Thanet-based ceramic art business – celebrates its one year anniversary this month by opening up its studio to the general public to mark its milestone year.

Epple Bay Ceramics was founded by Jenny Callaghan in 2012 as a family-driven ceramics and pottery business based in Epple Bay, near Westgate-on-sea in Thanet. Jenny designs and hand makes bespoke ceramics which are inspired by the natural world and in particular the Kent Coast. Epple Bay Ceramics sells its products online via Folksy and Etsy, in art galleries, at craft fairs, at exhibitions, and in open studios. The typical customer is either someone purchasing a handmade gift for a friend / relative, or someone who is interested in owning a unique, beautiful and imaginative ceramic object in their own home: Jenny creates all sorts of ceramic objects, from pots to wall hangings, buttons, jewellery, vases and home decorations.

Founder Jenny Callaghan said “The mission of Epple Bay Ceramics is to design and hand-make fine, beautiful ceramics to make the world a happier place – we exist to spread the beauty of the natural world through the medium of ceramic art; I’m really happy that we have made it to the one year milestone and look forward to many more years to come.”

The studio is completely free to visit and visitors are able to buy Epple Bay Ceramics products in the studio. There are no accessibility restrictions to visitors.

Ceramicist Jenny Callaghan continued, “I am thrilled to be able to open my studio to the general public as a part of Thanet Open Studios, and I hope that visitors leave feeling inspired to do something creative themselves”.
