Anchorian Equal Teams, the Gillingham-based football club for players with disabilities and learning difficulties, can continue competing for at least another two seasons thanks to a shirt sponsorship deal with Arriva.
The club has 18 players split across two teams in the Kent Disability League, and the B team is the reigning Kent Disability League Championship 2 champions.
Founded as Equal Teams in 2007, the club merged with Anchorians FC – an FA Charter Standard Community Club – to become Anchorians Equal Teams in 2014, giving it a home base, better facilities and stability for the future.
“This support from Arriva means a huge amount to us,” said Leigh Williams, Chairman of Anchorians Football Club.
“We are a non-profit making grass roots club and we rely on donations to allow us to keep offering chances for youngsters to participate in sport.
“This generous sponsorship from Arriva allows Anchorians Equal Teams to carry on playing for at least another two seasons by providing much needed new kit, which we really appreciate.”
Craig Taylor of Arriva said: “Anchorians Equal Teams is a thoroughly deserving cause, giving young people from across Medway the chance to compete in a safe and rewarding sporting environment.
“We hope our sponsorship means many more players will enjoy the benefits of belonging to a real community club, and we will look out for their results with interest.”
Anchorians Equals Teams is always on the look out for new players, aged 16 and over. To find out more details, email Paul Mcdonald via paulmcdonald1965@btinternet.com.
