TV Coast favourite Nicholas Crane and world champion sailor Sam Brearey are joining Visit Kent and Explore Kent at The Outdoors Show at London’s Excel.
The two celebrities and outdoor enthusiasts will help launch the county’s Active Coast campaign. They are highlighting the vast range of activities available from watersports to historic walking trails and internationally renowned cycling routes and golf courses. And during the show they will sign copies of the new Lonely Planet Rediscover Kent’s Coast Guide.
The Outdoors Show runs from Thursday, January 17, to Sunday, January 20, and is a popular event for everyone keen to get out and about during the year for activity-based awaydays or short breaks.
Cheryl Parker, of Visit Kent, said:
“Kent’s remarkable and diverse coast has so much to offer everyone who loves the outdoors and is eager to enjoy our blue flag beaches or challenge their kitesurfing, sailing and jet skiing skills plus, of course, our outstanding golf courses.
“We have miles and miles of walking and cycling trails, plus our new running, cycling and extreme sports centre at Cyclopark. And, thanks to our high-speed rail links and excellent roads, it is all on London’s doorstep.
“Outdoor pursuits are a growing leisure market and Kent is perfectly placed to meet the demand for activity-based days out and short breaks for people of all ages and abilities.”
Visitors to The Outdoors Show are being encouraged to visit the Explore Kent stand, AT356, to meet the team and test their cycling skills with a chance to win a short break for two in the county with free entry to more than 80 Kent attractions.
Each day the stand will also feature a series of daily prize draws with a wealth of Kent activity treats and experiences to be won.
The Active Coast campaign is sponsored by Southern Water in partnership with Visit Kent, Explore Kent and CAST, a European-funded Interreg programme.
Andy Shaddick, Southern Water public affairs manager, said:
“Southern Water is pleased to help showcase the exceptional coastline and other attractions that Kent has to offer. Supporting the communities we serve is at the heart of our business and we look forward to welcoming many more visitors to the county.”
