A Kent-based housebuilder has set its sights on expansion in south-east England to help meet the growing need for new housing.
Jones Homes Southern is currently building more than 200 new homes at three developments in Kent and West Sussex and is hoping to deliver a further 171 properties at a site on the Isle of Sheppey, subject to planning consent – but is also actively looking for multiple new sites for new developments across the region.
To help achieve its ambitious vision, the company has appointed a new land manager, Simon Collins, who is based at Jones Homes Southern’s headquarters in Swanley, Kent.
Simon said: “I have been brought in and my brief is to help Jones Homes Southern expand its portfolio of new developments in the area and to deliver more much-needed new homes for the region.
“We are currently building 73 new homes at Folders Grove in Burgess Hill in West Sussex, 70 properties at Westwood Park in Lenham in Kent and a further 65 homes at Walnut Grange in Hoo St Werburgh, also in Kent.
“We are also aiming to deliver 171 homes at our latest development, Shurland Park, in Minster-on-Sea on the Isle of Sheppey. This would bring the total number of homes being built in the area by Jones Homes Southern to nearly 400. That is an impressive commitment to the region, but we have more ambitious plans.
“My department is already looking at other sites in Kent and Sussex. The ultimate goal is to have five or six different developments of 100 or more homes ongoing at once. That is the challenge for me and my team.”
Simon, 50, a married father-of-two who lives in Sussex, joined the company in September after years working as a land manager for companies operating in the affordable housing market.
“I feel very happy about joining Jones Homes as it is a well-respected family-owned company which has an enviable reputation within the industry and with the house-buying public, for building top quality homes to a very high specification,” he said.
“My job is to source, evaluate and appraise land opportunities for Jones Homes Southern and to deal with the process which enables the company to build new neighbourhoods and deliver much-needed new homes to the area.
“I am from this part of the world and have worked in the housing industry in the region for years and have a large number of contacts within the business. I am calling them in as we search for sites to build new homes on in South Essex, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.”
