Philip Youdan, a partner at local law firm Cripps, has been elected President of the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and District branch of the Law Society.
The Society encourages closer contact between its members, strengthening the local legal community, and addresses issues that are important to the legal profession. It also responds to government consultations and lobbies the Law Society of England and Wales, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and other organisations.
“This is a great way of representing the profession and getting to know and work alongside the local, legal community,” said Philip, who was vice president last year.
“It’s an opportunity to support the legal sector in a wider sense and ensure local voices are heard and taken into account when policy and regulation issues are being considered.”
Philip, who has been at Cripps for 12 years, specialises in resolving disputes concerning money and other assets left in trust or under the terms of a will, along with other contentious regulatory work. He is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.
Congratulating Philip on his appointment, Clare Hyland, Senior Partner at Cripps, said: “Appointments to offices in the Law Society are important and an honour for the individual and the firm they represent.
“Philip’s appointment adds to those of his colleagues Christina Blacklaws, who is Deputy Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales, and Vanda James, who holds the post of President of the Kent Law Society.
“They have all been elected to positions of great responsibility by their peers in the profession, which reflects the trust their colleagues have in them.”
Cripps has offices in Tunbridge Wells, Kings Hill, London and Sandwich.
