FROM APPRENTICE TO BOARDROOM, McBRIDES APPOINTS NEW PARTNER

MCBRIDES-Masum-Ahmed

McBrides Chartered Accountants  has announced the appointment this month of a new tax partner who previously trained with the firm, in Sidcup, 18 years ago.

Masum Ahmed is a Chartered Tax Adviser and Trust and Estate Practitioner who qualified as a member of the Association of Tax Technicians and the Chartered Institute of Taxation whilst a member of the personal tax team at McBrides in 2001.

Masum went on to gain valuable experience at several leading private client firms in London, including working with one of the UK’s leading wealth management practices, before returning to McBrides’ tax department as a director in 2018.

Nick Paterno, managing partner at McBrides Chartered Accountants, said: “We are delighted to make Masum a partner at McBrides. His experience in providing UK tax compliance and planning advice to a wide range of clients, including large professional partnerships and their partners, shareholders and directors of owner managed businesses, high net worth individuals and non-UK domiciled individuals has been very well received by our clients. His arrival last year marked the wider expansion of our tax advisory services and his promotion to partner is the natural next step.

“Masum will continue to oversee McBrides’ provision of high-level personal income, inheritance and capital gains tax planning advice.”

Masum is currently vice chair of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Kent branch.

Over the last 12 months, Masum has invested time in developing the private client tax offering at McBrides to include more detailed work with inheritance tax planning and boosting client awareness of the range of services which can help to reduce individuals’ tax liabilities.

Masum says: “Having joined the firm as a trainee almost 20 years ago, I am delighted with the promotion to tax partner. My journey from a trainee at McBrides to spreading my wings to gain further experience in the City before returning last year, has been rich and rewarding.

“McBrides is a progressive firm that recognises the value of technical advice and commercial acumen while building close relationships and supporting its clients. I am looking forward to the new challenges and responsibilities my role brings, and I relish the opportunity to continue to grow the tax team and further develop our excellent tax services.”

Masum’s appointment takes the total partner number at McBrides to eight. Pi
